Franklin Roosevelt "Elmo" Lewis entered into eternal rest on November 23, 2025, at the
age of 85.1 He was born on January 10, 1940, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, one of twelve
children, raised in a home filled with faith, love, and strong family values.
He met his beloved wife, Dollie Cray Lewis, in Surrency, Georgia. Their beautiful love
story blossomed into a marriage that lasted over 50 plus blessed years, until her
passing. Their union was a foundation of strength, partnership, and unwavering
devotion.

Elmo served over 20 honorable years in the United States Army, dedicating his life to
protecting and serving his country. After retirement, he made Hinesville, Georgia, his
home, where he continued to serve others and live out his faith.
For more than 20 years, he was a committed Deacon at Midway Congregational
Church, where he offered guidance, wisdom, and leadership. His life was marked by
humility, service, and a deep commitment to doing God's work.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dollie Cray Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memory:
• Two sons – Franklin Roosevelt Lewis, Jr. (Monique), and Greg Gray Lorenzo Lewis
• One daughter – Charlene Lewis Rocker (Randolph)
• Six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with
a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever honor his legacy.
Franklin Roosevelt "Elmo" Lewis lived a life of purpose, faith, and strength. His memory
will forever shine through the lives of those he touched.
