Franklin Darl Smith
February 25, 1938 – October 25, 2025

Franklin Darl Smith, 87, passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice on October 25, 2025.

He proudly served in the National Guard and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Jasper, where he served as a deacon for over 20 years. On November 20, 1960, he married the love of his life, Evelyn Jones Smith, and together they shared 64 wonderful years.

Franklin had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tending to his rose bushes. He also shared a deep love for music, especially old country, bluegrass, and southern gospel. He was fondly known as "Pop" to those who loved him most and shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank A. Smith and Linnie Lee Smith, and by his son, Allen Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Jones Smith; son, Raymond Darl Smith (Latrell); daughter-in-law, Debbie Smith (wife of the late Allen Smith); and sister, Shirley Moulton. He was the proud grandfather of Brett Smith and Amber, and great-grandfather to Hannah, Hailey, Aiden, Bradley, Dallas, Riley, Addilyn, and Ruby.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Jasper on Thursday, October 30, 2025, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Geiger Cemetery.
