Franklin Willis Walton, Sr., 88, of Kents Store, VA went to be with the Lord on February 1st, 2026, from his home. He was born on March 17, 1937.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents - Clinton Willis Hutchinson and Nannie Langhorn Gibson Hutchinson, his parents – Newell "Toots" Frankin Walton and Louellen Ruth Hutchinson Walton, and many other family members and friends.

Frank graduated from Albermarle High School in 1955 and joined the U.S. Navy. He attended Hospital Corpsman school in Bainbridge, MD and, upon completion, served as a Hospital Corpsman with the 8th Communications battalion; he later attended lab technician school in Bethesda, MD. He served with distinction – mostly as a hospital corpsman with the Marines - in various locations and duties to include the following: USS Hermitage; Naval Hospital, Chelsea, MA; I Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment; Headquarters, 8th Marine Regiment; and Naval Hospital, Millington, TN.

He was medically discharged February 4, 1970. He then worked at the University of Virginia Hospital and School of Nursing as a laboratory technician and instructor for four years before moving to NC. He served as a clinical laboratory technician for private physicians before eventually going to work at the Naval Air Station, Cherry Point, NC as a nosocomial infection specialist and Assistant Safety Officer. Upon completion of the Safety Officer course in Bloomington, IN, he served as Safety Officer and OSHA Inspector for the Naval Hospital, Cherry Point, NC until his retirement in 1995.

Upon his retirement, he returned to VA where he remained until his death.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Lorraine Bryant Walton; two children - Franklin "Tiger" Willis Jr., and Nancy Jane (Pete); six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren; and other nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held between 1:00-2:00pm on Sunday, February 15th, at Byrd Chapel, 5371 Venable Road, Kents Store, Virginia with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Interment will immediately follow services in the church cemetery.
