I worked for Mr. Belz (although not directly) when he was the President of the foundry facings division at Black Products, Inc. in Chicago. Riverdale, IL actually. He was a wonderful man. He is also the father of my 1979 classmate, Helen. I happened to look him up and have a nice chat with him a few years back on July 4th. The family always sat out in from of the house on Indiana Ave. to watch the parade. He "kinda" remembered me...the more we talked and I mentioned names he seemed to recall.
I actually started out working for Mr. Erv Lau as a student draftsman in the machine division. Mr. Lau was looking for part-time help and Mr. Belz suggested that he call down to Beecher High School.
Once I went to full time, I worked for Mr. Rich Robey. Great guy and great mentor!
Thoughts and prayers to the Belz family.
