So Sad to hear of Freds passing. Was just thinking of him the other day. Although i haven't seen him in quite a few years our Families were always close. Our summer vacations were spent with him and his Family in Monongahela. He was such a positive in my life growing up. Trying to locate his family the past several years had been hard since my sister, Pat, passed away. Our Grandfathers came to the US together. Fred was a good person and a very kind person. He surely will be missed. RIP Fred

I am so sorry to read of this. Fred Cox was one of my Vikings hero's as a kid. I had all the cards and jerseys and you name it, I wore it. I didn't know that he was involved with the Nerf thing. That's really amazing!
Condolences to his friends, family and former teammates. SKL Fred. You lived a remarkable life!

My memories of Fred are of his faithfulness. After home games, Fred would show up at Sunday evening service at Edina Baptist. A very humble Christian husband and father. He will be sorely missed, but we will be with him again, with Christ, in heaven!

Watching him at the Ol' Met I always wondered how he could make those kicks in -30 weather. When I got older I found out that he was the man. Rest in Peace....

A fixture on those great Viking teams from the '60s and '70s. You brought much joy to those who watched you kick, and especially to the many kids (and kids at heart) who enjoyed their Nerf Footballs! Farewell, Fred, and thanks!
