Fred L. Frechette

Fred was a friend of mine that I met when we were both War Workers at The Yorktown Naval Mine Depot in 1942 and 1943 while we were freshman at W & M ..
After the war I saw him often until I
graduated in 1949.
I was just told by a mutual friend (Pat Haggerty) about his book on Wmsbrg
and I will try to get a copy. We visited each other over the years and he will be missed by all.

Thank you for sharing the story of your father with the Williamsburg Fire Department Annual Banquet attendees. The gift of your father's book was so very generous. At our table, friends of your father shared stories of those days in the 50's riding the fire truck with him. They identified themselves in the photos and shared his story with great admiration. I read his book for the first time this weekend. I understand why you were so proud of your father that you wanted to share his beautifully-written memories in My Town with us. God bless you and your family as you mourn this great loss.

FRED HAD A BIG BLACK FORD SEDAN SET UP LIKE A POLICE CAR WITH A VERY POWERFUL ENGINE . ONE DAY THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE AND TO THIS DAY I HAVEN'T FIGURED HOW IT HAPPENED. FRED KNOWS.

I ALWAYS ENJOYED THE FACT THAT FRED WAS LIKE ONE OF THE BOYS. hE HAD 2 GREAT DAUGHTERS AND A WONDERFUL WIFE BUT WHEN WE STARTED HANGING AROUND THE HOUSE OVER IN RICHMOND HE TOOK US IN LIKE WE WERE PART OF THE FAMILY . hE WOULD COME TO MY SPORTING EVENTS AND WAS ALWAYS INTERESTED IN WHAT I WAS UP TO EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT FAMILY. I SUPPOSE HE WAS THAT WAY WITH EVERYONE. HE AND HIS FAMILY WERE AN IMPORTANT PART OF SHAPING MY LIFE. THE OTHER C.C.

Fred's family,
Fred was such a wonderful friend.I remember taking care of fred after his surgery a couple years ago,he was so upbeat about life and how he was going to bounce back.Fred shared many stories of his life with me, it was like being there most of the time in his stories.I'm blessed to have known fred.My deepest sympathy to the family I know the memories of fred will carry you through life ,may god bless you .

How blessed we are to know someone who makes saying "good-bye" so hard!
Two months and 24 days before Fred said "Bye-Bye" he hosted an Afternoon Tea at Victoria's Restaurant, under the watchful and loving eye of owner Doris Bryant, for the Holly Hills Book Club. He shared wonderful stories about Williamsburg's people and places of the past as documented in his book Williamsburg, My Town. He leaves a wonderful legacy for generations to come, and will be sadly missed. My sincere sympathy is extended to his family and friends. Thank you Fred for giving me the opportunity to meet you.

I have fond memories fo Fred when was living in Richmond. We worked together on many advertising & video presentations. He started one of the first TV & Motion picture studios in Richmond. Quite a guy! My deepest sympathy to you all.

I have fond memories of Fred and his generous work with the Williamsburg Fire Departmen. He was a pioneer in many ways and was always a straight shooter.
A good man who will be missed. My best goes out to the family.

I have fond memories of Fred Frechette and his three ladies from their days in Richmond. Losing Dad is tough. My sympathies to you all.

My Uncle Fred and I shared a love of trains. Visiting his train room and helping work on the railroad will always remain one of my fondest memories.Blunt, but loving, and generous, Uncle Fred helped me understand my own family, and myself.

I recall him visiting me at my home in San Clemente, CA and later the trip we took together with my sister to tour Massachusetts and the places he and my father grew up.

I will always be proud to call Fred Frechette my uncle.

"Christmas in July" 7-10-8 was a fun day with Fred. He loved his experiences as a volunteer fireman and telling the many stories related to this time in his life. The pumper was a favorite trophy for the men. Seeing the truck in front of Victoria's with a smiling Fred and two happy servers was awesome. Fred will always be in our hearts. He was a very honest friend. He would tell you what he thought when you really didn't want to hear the truth. His compliments were sincere. His smile the best. His friendship means so very much to us. When ever we look up and see blue skies with white puffy clouds we will know Fred is busy doing what he loved best, filming something so he could tell a great story. "Bye-bye" as he would say as we pulled away from our visits...with most sincere love Doug and Doris Bryant
