FRED FRIMBERGER

Fred Frimberger was born Nov. 14, 1930, to Josef and Freidericka Frimberger in the Bronx, New York City and passed away Dec. 2, 2023, in
Vancouver, WA. Fred graduated with a BS in pharmacy from Rutgers University, College of Pharmacy, in
Newark, NJ, June 1952. Fred grew up in NY and NJ. He was inducted in the US Army in June 1953 and after basic training deployed to Madigan Army Hospital in
Tacoma, WA. While at Madigan, he met a civilian nurse, Sheila A. Shovlain, daughter of Dr. Francis and Mrs. Myrtle Shovlain. They married Dec. 3, 1954. While at Madigan, Fred transferred his pharmacy license and became registered in Washington. After discharge from the Army in 1955, Fred’s first job was at Toziers Professional Pharmacy in
Bellingham, WA. In 1957, he decided to join Eli Lilly and Co. using his pharmaceutical training as a sales representative calling on physicians, pharmacists, dentists and hospitals. He was headquartered in
Vancouver, WA, and his territory ran from Ilwaco to
Goldendale, WA, through the Columbia River Gorge and north on I-5 to
Castle Rock, WA. He held this position for nearly 32 years before retiring.
Fred and Sheila had six children, three girls and three boys. In July 1980, Fred lost Sheila to a massive heart attack. Subsequently he met a widow (Patty Masters) with a daughter and they married in August of 1981. Patty passed away May 16, 2017. Fred is survived by daughters, Frankie Frimberger, Terri (John) Kunkel and Jackie (Richard) Ochsner; stepdaughter, Pam (Brian) Maggs; sons, Tim Frimberger and Josef (Eileen) Frimberger; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren plus cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Fred Jr.
The family was a very close and caring unit. The majority lived in the Clark County area and respond to the motto, ”One for all and all for one.” Family gatherings were spread around with each family unit hosting one of the annual holidays and the others filling in with their special favorite items.
Fred was an active member of Family of Christ Lutheran Church and involved in numerous facets of church activities.
He enjoyed watching the Seattle Seahawks, Portland Trail Blazers and Portland Timbers in their various sport specialties. His personal sports involvement covered a 60-year span of teaching safe hunting education and rifle marksmanship and with competitive bullseye target and metallic silhouette target shooting.
A celebration of life will be held for Fred on Saturday Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at Family of Christ Lutheran Church, 3500 NW 129th St.,
Vancouver, WA 98685.
