PORTLAND -- Fred Anthony Lorfano Jr. passed away on March 26, 2011, at Maine Medical Center, after a short illness.
He was born on July 30, 1938, in Portland, to Fred Anthony Lorfano Sr. and Barbara Lorfano Mitchell. He attended Portland and Yarmouth schools. He worked for Dave's Watch Shop and Fairchild Semiconductor, and also served in the U.S. Air Force.
Fred loved his mechanics, electronics, technology, and of course his music. He loved and lived life to its fullest, being a paraplegic since age 18. Everyone loved him for his wit and his will.
Surviving are a brother, Frank Witham and wife Mary, and a sister, Judith Doughty and husband Steve. There are also many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David Lorfano.
His family would like to thank Healthcare Seaside for the care he received there for the past eight years, and all the friends he made there. Special thanks to Gene Yeaton for being there for him for so many years.
There will be no funeral service per Fred's will.
In honor of Fred and his love for animals, a donation can be made
to your local humane society.
