Fred "Bill" W. Nottingham, Jr., 76 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at 5:44 PM, Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at his home following a brief illness. He was born Friday, July 12, 1946, in Gassaway, WV, the son of Fred W. Nottingham, Sr. and Wilma Ruth (Paintiff) Nottingham. He married Vicki (Ault) Nottingham on Friday, November 1, 1968.
Bill served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a custodian with Ohio University Zanesville, retiring in 2009, following over thirty years of service. Bill was a member of the VFW Post 1058, where he served on the Honor Guard Detail for over 9 years, and the American Legion Post 29, where he served on the Executive Board.
Bill loved to fish, hunt, trap shoot and watch his beloved Bengals. He loved his family and was so proud of them. Bill had an unwavering connection with the Lord, whom he praised every day, and was thankful for all the blessings He bestowed upon him.
Bill is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Vicki Nottingham; two daughters, Misty (Dion) Hunt and Angela (Tom) Lent; one son, William Doug (Dawn Metcalf) Nottingham; two sister, Debbie Metz and Cathy (Steve) Tusing; ten grandchildren, Anthony, Cory (Natalie), Dustin (Janna), Kaylee (Billy), Chase (Makenna), Tyler, Brandon (Christelle), Tessa (Harle), Gracie and Abby; eighteen great grandchildren, Abigale, Bridget, Auctavia, Kylee, Landon, Matthew, Morgan, Luke, Lauren, Bryson, Sydney, Jacob, Libby, Jo Jo, Carson, Noah, Nash, Nora, Alex and two on the way (Brynlee and Phoenix); many friends and his special pets, Gizmo, Tank, Angel and Little Red.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one son, William "Bubby" Ault; one brother, Ronald Nottingham; sisters-in-law, Teresa, Sharon, Peg; brothers-in-law, Jim, Jr., Bill, and Tom; two nephews, Tommy and Ricky, and one special cousin, Kelly.
Funeral Services and Military Honors where held on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 3:00 to 7:00 PM, Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the VFW Post 1058, 1318 Putnam Avenue, Zanesville.
