Fred "Pops" Fontenot, 82, of Mamou, LA, died Monday, March 23, 2026, at the Crossing Hospice in Baton Rouge. Fred enjoyed working in his garden, cooking outside, sitting under his shade tree drinking a few beers with friends, loved lending a helping hand to others, and had a contagious laugh.
Fred was a resident of St. Amant, La for over 40 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for CBI for over 40 years before retiring and served our country in the army for four years in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Lynn Fontenot; his son, Alex Fontenot; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, April Fontenot; 4 grandsons, Quentin, Kane, Andrew, and Gavin; his sister, Willie Seal; and multiple nieces and nephews.
