Fred A. Reed, 94, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 5:35 am, Monday, October 20, 2025, at his home. He was born on July 28, 1931, in Miami County, Indiana, to Henry Reed and Pearl (Brooks) Reed Mendenhall.
Fred was a 1950 graduate of Linlawn High School and a US Navy veteran. He married Mary Alice Roser in Richvalley, Indiana on November 23, 1958. Fred worked at General Tire in Wabash, retiring after 44 years. He was a member of the Wabash Church of the Nazarene, and his faith was extremely important to him. Fred loved the Navy, and he also enjoyed golfing, fishing, and mushroom hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Reed of Wabash; three children, Liz (Bob) Evans of Wabash, Brian (Cambi) Reed of Mentone, Indiana, and Chris (Todd) Dawes of Urbana, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Devin (Dena)Reed, Kelsey (Kyle) Grimm, Sydnie (Morgan) Bivens, Alison (Aaron) Butcher, Kaitlyn (Jordon) Myers, Taylor (Zachary) Smith, Corbin (Allison) Dawes, and Collin (Natalie) Dawes; 16 great grandchildren; and his brother, Ronnie Reed of Columbia City, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Cleave, Leonard, Robert, Dale, Ray, and Jess Reed; and three sisters, Beulah Vinson, Ilene Tabler, and Bonnie Dale.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Kirk Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 12-2:00 pm Thursday, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Wabash Church of the Nazarene.
