Fred Trice Jr.

Fred was born the fifth child of ten to the union of the late Gertrude & Fred Trice Sr. on July 21, 1948, in Port Arthur, Texas. Where he attended elementary and high school, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1966, with honors, that same year, he met his future wife-to-be, Patricia Molo. After a 4-year courtship, they married on December 25, 1970. After 53 years of marriage, he still called his wife, "sweetie pie." After they married, they then moved to Berkeley, California, and started a family. Fred worked as a Journeyman Plumber for 7 years and traveled wherever the job took him.
In 1977, Fred moved his family to Portland, Oregon, to be near his mother-in-law. In 1978, Fred began his career at Sulzer Pumps as an Industrial Machinist, where he retired after 35 years. In 1982, he opened shop; "3-n-1 Specialty", selling plants & things and arts & crafts, his wife Patricia offered custom sewing and design. He would attend various local marketing events, setting up a booth to sell and advertise his products and merchandise. Many people knew him by his cheerful attitude, his smile, and that little curl on his forehead, his "conversation piece."
Fred was brought up in the church and loved it. He was a member of Rock Island Baptist Church in Texas. In California, he was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church until he moved to Oregon. In Oregon, Fred attended his mothers-in-laws church, Paradise Baptist Church until becoming a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church for 3 years. In July 1992, Fred surrendered his life to Christ on the front porch of his home and joined Cornerstone Community COGIC, where he served as an active member and became Deacon. He was fondly called by some; Godfather, OG, Papa and Deacon Lucky. On September 10, 2023, Deacon Trice was appointed to the office of Vice Chairman Emeritus of the Cornerstone COGIC/Deacon Board.
His personal hobbies and other loves were his plants, gardening and spending time on his back patio with family and friends. He and Patricia opened an Ice Cream Shop, 'Nana's Scoop Shop', in July 2007, where he manned the front window and served many of the men and women in the community while selling plants at the same time. He called his plants, "his babies".
Fred lived out his God-given assignment by being a true friend, a wonderful husband, a great dad, and a hard worker and provider. His greatest accomplishment and joy was sharing with others the love of Christ. He touched many lives through his testimonies and the supernatural miracles God performed in the lives of his family.
Fred's surviving family members: Patricia Ann Trice (Wife), 3 children; Ghantel Morris, Mawali Trice, and Kenyatta Trice. He also leaves 15 grandchildren; Marquise Morris, Joseph Morris, Joshua Morris, Mawali Trice Jr, Maasi Trice, Mazeek Trice, Ariyauna DeWeese, Makhi Trice, Maliya Trice, Meicy Trice, Amari Causey, Malique Sabb, Michael and Andrew Esperanza and Bennett Okello and 3 great-grandchildren; Rayland and Taliah Morris and Ilani Rae Morris. And 3 God Children; Demetrice Tyson, Lorkeya Eatmon, and Brittany Christian. He also leaves his siblings; Eugene Trice, Sherman Trice, Arbetra Farley, Almetra Johnson, Maxine Cowart, Kathie Howard, and Anthony Wayne Trice. Sibling In-Laws: Vanessa Dortch, Florestine Cole, Carolyn Trice, Curtis Johnson and Eloise Trice. And a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
