Mr. Freddie Eugene Bland, son of the late Howard Eugene and Valta (Cox) Bland, was born in Taylor County on June 26, 1949. He departed this life on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital, being 76 years of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Christian faith. He was a logger by trade, fearless by nature, and generous by choice. Freddie suffered a disability at a fairly young age, yet many tales of his earlier exploits remain in circulation. These stories are usually set in the great outdoors, from coon hunting with the best dogs to tales of mules trained well enough to ride in the bed of a pickup truck without racks. The most recent (and cherished), though, are those told of his sweet and gentle personality.
He leaves to mourn his passing:
A son: Todd Bland and wife Lora Beth,
Three grandchildren: Jesi Bland, Aaron Bland, and Abby Bland,
Two great-grandchildren: Hunter Jo Bland and Ruby Bland,
Nine siblings: Donnetta Sharp and husband Jimmie, Roger Bland and wife Peggy, Bobby Bland, Lana Franklin and husband Billy Jack, Terri Brown and husband Freddy, Jimmy Bland and wife Theresa, Jeff Bland, Sherri Martin and husband Curtis, and Carla Williams and husband Milt,
A sister-in-law: Deanna Gay Bland,
And countless other extended family members and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Bland.
There will be a funeral service to honor the life of Freddie Bland on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 1:00 PM EDT (12:00 PM CDT) in the chapel of the L.R. Petty Funeral Home, 1765 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY. Bro. Roger Bland and Elder Jimmie Sharp will officiate. Burial will follow in the Jesus Name Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 10:00 AM EDT (9:00 AM CDT) until time for the service.
