Freddie Wayne Gattenby, 83, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away on January 9, 2026. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK
Freddie was born on October 18, 1942, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Cleo and Sybil (Elam) Gattenby. He spent his working years as an operator in the energy industry. Known for his strong work ethic, Freddie provided faithfully for his family throughout his career. Freddie married Mary (Angus) Gattenby, in 1960.
Freddie had a fondness for motorcycles and enjoyed traveling, and especially Grandpa Camp in the summer, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed playing online dominoes and backgammon. He will be remembered for his steady presence, practical wisdom, and the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Durenda Meyer, and her husband, Bill, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; brother, Jack, and his wife, Janice Gattenby, of Texas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Freddie is preceded in death by his wife, Mary; son, Glen; his parents, Cleo and Sybil Gattenby; and his brothers, Larry and Delbert.

Fred .., was my very dear friend ,, we had a very special relationship and I helped him for several years ,,, we were very close ,, he loved feeding the birds and always had his bird feeder full of food ,,, he loved to laugh and have fun and cared so much about those he loved ,, his wisdom helped me many times ,, I miss his caring loving presence ,, he would remember the days of having a sail boat and spoke of it many times ,, he loved playing bingo ,, he would win and surprise me with flowers and things he won ,,, his kindness was abounding his love was felt ,, he is greatly missed .
