Freddie Mac Guthrie, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on July 9, 1950, in Bartow, Florida, Freddie was a lifelong resident of the Sunshine State, ultimately finding his home in Lakeland, Florida, where he spent his later years surrounded by family and friends.

Freddie was the cherished son of Johnny and Sarah Guthrie, who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Johnny Wayne. He is survived by his loving wife, Sondra Guthrie, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage that began on April 30, 1971. Together, they raised two wonderful daughters, Summer Potts and Autumn Kinser (Tek), who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Freddie was also a proud grandfather to his grandchildren: Shay Guthrie, Eric Kinser, and Hannah Potts, each of whom held a special place in his heart, as well as his adored companion, Lucy, who remained by his side until the end. He is also survived by his brothers, Terry Guthrie and Larry Guthrie, as well as many loving cousins and extended family.

Freddie's career spanned over three decades as he dedicated himself to working at Publix, and also the City of Lakeland where his friendly demeanor and unwavering work ethic earned him the respect and affection of many. He was known for his ability to connect with others, embodying the saying, "never met a stranger." Whether he was working or spending time with family, Freddie was always ready to share a smile and a story around the bonfire.

In his leisure time, Freddie found joy in his many hobbies, including woodworking, painting, fishing, and hunting. His creative spirit was evident in the beautiful pieces he crafted, and his love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family. Freddie also had a fondness for driving his golf cart, often taking leisurely rides through the neighborhood, exemplifying his easygoing nature and the joy he found in simple pleasures. He enjoyed eating with his family and friends at Fat Jack and at Athenian Restaurant.

Freddie's life was a testament to the importance of family, love, and community. He was a man who embraced life with open arms, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of encouragement. His warm presence and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Freddie's life will be held at his home on December 5, 2025, at 5:00~7:00 PM. The family invites all who knew and loved Freddie to join them in honoring his remarkable life and the indelible impact he made on those around him.
