Freddie Tara Vanhoy, age 70, of State Road, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.
Freddie was born January 23, 1955, in Surry County to Willie and Ruby Lyons Vanhoy. He was a member of State Road Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 40 years and retired from Duke Power after 34 years of service.
Freddie loved the Lord and his family dearly and tried to live a life that represented his strong Christian faith and doing what was right. He loved to travel and experience new things, especially cruises. Freddie lived a life of generosity and contributed to his community in many ways.
In addition to his parents, Freddie was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol Vanhoy, his sister, Virginia Wagoner, and a brother, Roger Vanhoy.
He is survived by his wife, Becky Thompson Vanhoy, of the home; sons Billy Vanhoy and wife Karen of Lake Wylie and Jason Vanhoy and wife Danielle of Ellenboro; brother Willie Vanhoy, Jr. and his wife Jerri of Long Island, NY; granddaughters Sophia, Salem, and Grier; mother-in-law, Ardell Hemric of Elkin; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
A funeral service will be held Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at State Road Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Kenny Gunn, Rev. Gary Tatum and Rev. John Newton officiating.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Mountain Valley Hospice for their unwavering care and support for Freddie and the entire family during this challenging time.
