Freddy Lynn Cox
Born December 18,1948 - Died December 9, 2025
He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and loved ones from his long battle with muscular dystrophy. He was born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Freddy was an amazing person with a huge personality and a very loving heart. He loved people and loved music. Freddy had an amazing career as a musician, singer, and songwriter. He loved to play the guitar and sing; it was his passion. He got his first guitar when he was 9 years old from a pawn shop in the Dallas area, and that is where the lifelong obsession for playing music all started.
He traveled all over the US playing music in many different groups throughout his lifetime with all different genres... Big Band, Rock, Blues and Country as well. In 1987 he gave his life to the Lord. Since then, he would play and write Christian music and perform with Gospel groups. During his life here on earth some of the groups he would play with were The Big Beats, Colossus, Hill City Band, Joshua Experience, Praise Inc., CrossRoad, Pacesetters and many others. He even received numerous awards for his work; which included 3 Terry awards, and he even won Male Vocalist of the year from SGMA of Texas in 1997.
Freddy is Survived by his loving wife Sammie Cox, Son Matthew Cox, Grandson Tristan Cox, Brother Danny Cox and his Sister Barbra Cox McCormick. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Samantha Hogan along with her sons Riley Hogan and Liam hogan; Stepson Chris Singletary along with his wife Tracie Singletary and their children – Olivea Singletary, Grace Singletary and Mason Singletary. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, his music family and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his father Elmer Cox, mother Onita Cox, and two brothers - Don Cox and Kenneth Cox. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of FREDDY, please visit our floral store.

Freddy Lynn Cox has a soulful singing voice, and its now singing before our Lord & Savior. He is GREATLY missed by his family ~ especially his Precious Sammie. Thank God, Freddy has many Gospel Songs that gives him a legacy that lives on in the flesh, as his Spirit also speaks through his singing. With deepest Sympathy in Christ's Love, Deborah & Family

My friend, I will miss you and your constant smile and humor as well as your guitar and bass playing. You friendship and tutelage over the past year has been amazing. I enjoyed the many conversations we had about music, life and GOD. Thank you for enriching my life, love you and miss, but I will see you again.
