Fred was an athlete. He was good at every sport he played. He excelled in both high school football and basketball. In addition to his speed and agility, he was our best punter on the varsity football team. One game against Garden City West, Fred was called on to punt once again. He dropped back and took the snap from David Ashe, but as he began to punt, one of his blockers (Carl Bantau) backed up into Fred and the ball was on the ground. Fred picked it up and ran 60 yards for a touchdown. Fred may have been the single best athlete in the JFK class of 66! See you in glory my friend!!!!
