Frederick G. Baumann passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

He was born on March 5, 1943, in Chicago, IL., the son of Henry and Bernice (Kuellmer) Baumann.

Fred married Linda M. Altmann on December 5, 1964, in Chicago, IL. and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage before Linda's passing in 2015.

He and Lyn had 4 daughters who will dearly miss him: Lisa (David) Daley, Cynthia (Jonny) Gettle, Julia Baumann, and Kristina Hayes.

Fred & Lyn had 10 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his brother John Baumann of Oak Lawn, IL.

Fred is also survived by his dear friend Shar Cureton who meant the world to him. They spent many hours together over the past years - playing Scrabble, Catan, Ticket to Ride, and doing many other activities together.

Fred's love for Cedarhurst of Bethalto was an endearing place in his heart. He was very grateful for his time spent there and the care he received.

Fred's passions were: Playing cards and games with family and friends, playing Pinochle at the Bethalto Senior Center, annual fishing trips to Wisconsin with his family, fishing trips with co-workers, the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, UCONN Women's Basketball, and of course Food!!

He worked in the Engineering field for Fabritech, East Alton, IL. until his retirement.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife, and granddaughter.

No services to be held. Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is entrusted with final arrangements.

Donations/Memorials are suggested to Siteman Cancer Center.
