Fred was one of a kind, he did it his way. He was honorable and always had your back. I remember Mike Arace (wrestling coach) always talking about Fred's relentless competitiveness and strength as a wrestler. Fred carried these qualities over into his fire fighting career and instead of winning matches he was saving lives. There are many stories and memories of Fred from high school that I will cherish and remember forever. Fred may have had a touch of gruffness, but with any recipe, it takes many ingredients and in Fred's case - resilience, respect, and giving of himself made him Fred to me. Love you man!
