Frederick Delfino Obituary

Frederick John Delfino, 89, of North Attleboro, passed away peacefully at home on February 16, 2026, surrounded by the family he adored.

Born on February 5, 1937 in Norwood to Romeo B. and Mary J. (McNamara) Delfino, Fred grew up in Mansfield and carried his hometown pride with him throughout his life. He left high school early to serve in the United States Marine Corps, faithfully serving his country for three years before being honorably discharged in 1957. He later completed his education, graduating from Mansfield High School in 1958 and continuing his studies at Coyne Electric in Boston.

For 35 years, Fred dedicated himself to North Bowl Lanes in North Attleboro as General Manager. He was also a skilled carpenter owning his own business and former owner of The Golden Cue in North Attleboro and Mansfield. In retirement, he continued working in security at Gillette Stadium, where he once again found community in the people around him.

An accomplished and passionate bowler, Fred was a member of the PBA, co-founder of the New England Bowlers Association, former NEBA president and tournament director, and was inducted into the NEBA and Brockton Halls of Fame. Bowling was more than a sport to him. It was family, competition, and camaraderie.

Above all, Fred's proudest role was that of husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He was devoted to his beloved wife of 64 years, Doreen (Albertini) Delfino. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Lauren Schmidt (Gregg), Linda Osborne (Thomas), Kristen Downing (James), Steven Delfino, and Frederick Delfino; his grandchildren Keeghan Koza, Gregg Schmidt, Alaina Corsini, John Corsini, Daniel Osborne, Julia Kinsey, Jill Bernard, and Marcus Downing; and his great-grandchildren Kingston, Kaliyah, Karleigh, Gatlin, Hudson, and Layla. He is also survived by his siblings Pauline Etter, Charles Delfino, Michael Delfino, Ginny Brooks, and Dee Dee Pattee. He was predeceased by his sister Rosemary Leonard, his brother John Delfino, and his granddaughter Janie Downing. He is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Fred will be remembered for his work ethic, generosity, loyalty to New England sports, and the joy he brought to every gathering. His legacy lives on in the stories we tell, the traditions we keep, and the laughter he taught us to share.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, February 28, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a family reflection at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Committal prayers and military honors will follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Mansfield.
