 Frederick L. Devoid, 96, of Gorham, passed away on Monday January 27, 2025 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital. He was born in Berlin on April 28, 1928 the son of Edward G. and Bessie (Dowse) Devoid and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II and had been employed by the City of Berlin as a police officer for 20 years. Fred has also worked as a machinist for James River Corp for 13 ½ years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish, was on the Mental Health Board for nearly 20 years and attended the University of Southern California at the Delinquency Control Institute. Fred married Yvette Charest on June 6, 1949. Fred and Yvette enjoyed wintering in Lake Wales, FL for 20 years.

Family includes his children Kathleen Schofield and husband Steven of Gorham, NH, Sandra Eastman and husband Richard of Berlin, NH and Frederick R. Devoid and wife Rody of Mt. Washington, KY; grandchildren Derek Eastman and spouse Nicole, Stephanie F. Schofield and spouse Natalie, Heather Pizutto and spouse Joseph, Jason Devoid and spouse Janelle and Kelly Johnson and spouse Russell; 4 great grandchildren; sister Frances Ingersoll of Berlin, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Yvette (Charest) Devoid on January 26, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 6, 2025 at 10 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin, NH. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9 to 10 AM, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the NH Police Memorial or to the Diabetes Foundation. Online guestbook at www.bryantfuneralhome.net.
