Frederick Vernard Dillard
Life encompasses a series of experiences, relationships, and familial connections. Frederick Vernard Dillard was born to Ernest and Majetta (Woods) Dillard on June 14, 1964, at Memorial Hospital in
Savannah, Georgia.
Frederick pursued various interests throughout his youth, including horseback riding, motorcycling, and basketball. He participated as a disc jockey at musical events with friends and family. Frederick attended Springfield Central School and completed his secondary education in
Savannah, Georgia. He went to various locations throughout Georgia to be trained as a Wastewater Plant Operator.
Frederick was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Majetta Dillard, as well as his grandparents, Adell Woods Sr. and Ola Bell (Goldwire)Woods. Also, he was preceded in death by his uncles: Adell Woods Jr., Malcom Woods, Charles Woods, Melvin Woods, Cordell Woods, Bernard Woods, and Kenneth Woods. Additionally, his beloved aunt, Ruthie Woods, passed before him. Members of the extended Goldwire/Woods family who predeceased Frederick include Ligner (Johnson) Goldwire and Wyman Goldwire (great grandparents), Annie (Burnett) Woods and Charlie Woods (great grandparents), Martin Goldwire, Miller Goldwire, Andrew Goldwire, Wyman Leroy Goldwire, Willie P. Goldwire, Viola (Herbert) Goldwire-Young, Mazarine (Herman/Frank)McCarr-Kirkland, Lottie B. (Fred) Goldwire-Pinkney, Rose R. (Phil/Arthur) Goldwire-Bibbs, and Louise Goldwire.
Frederick is survived by his aunts, Mary (Ravanell Sr.) Young, Ella L. (Willie) Brown, Juanita (Adell Jr.) Woods; uncle, Calvin Woods; and only sister, Martha (Dillard) Pinkney. His sister Martha's children include Glen Wynn (Deceased), Mary Clark, Lester McCain, Leslie McCain, Demetrius Goldwire and Ernest McCain. Also, he leaves behind many cherished and supportive cousins, including Michael and Loretta Johnson and Glyn Goldwire. Michael and Loretta provided consistent support during Frederick's hospitalization and contributed to the renovation of his residence. His dear friend Margaret Griffin and her family took care of Frederick for years as he attended dialysis treatments and doctor's appointments. Henry Andrews and his family supported Frederick with food and housing repairs throughout the years. A deep appreciation for Pastor Johnnie Andrews and Michael Garvin for their contributions in building the handicapped ramp for Frederick to access his home. Frequently his cousin, Denise Jenkins visited and brought Frederick food and water during his illness. Although Frederick did not have any natural children, he enjoyed celebrations with his cousins: Virginia M. (Robert) Reynolds, Ravanell Young Jr., Robert (Alicia) Reynolds Jr., Ashley Woods, Ravanell Young III, Aaron (Sheneice) Hamilton, Adam Brown, Chiquita Young, Trenessa Young, Vincent Young Jr. His deceased cousins include Stanley (Gwendolyn)Young and Vincent Young Sr. Many other family and friends supported Frederick over the past seven years, and the Dillard, Goldwire, Woods families are grateful for your support. Frederick leaves behind a host of other extended family members, dear friends and colleagues.
Frederick derived considerable satisfaction from his commitment to his profession. He served as the Senior Operator at the Wastewater Plant in Guyton, Rincon, and Springfield, Georgia. His exemplary performance was recognized through multiple awards, including Employee of the Month in Springfield, and other commendations. In recognition of his contributions, a street in Hickory Knob subdivision in
Rincon, GA was named Frederick Street in his honor.
In recent years, Frederick faced multiple health challenges. During his longstanding association with his childhood friend Mr. Larry Chambers, Frederick decided to embrace Christianity in November 2025 prior to his passing. He expressed satisfaction with his decision to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Although Frederick has passed away, he leaves behind many valued memories that were shared with his family and friends. For those of the Christian faith, there is the belief in being reunited with him in heaven.
