Frederick Flagg Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 26, 2026.
With heavy hearts-and more than a few fond smiles-the loving family of Frederick A. Flagg, Jr. announces his passing on March 20, 2026.

Fred was born May 1960 in Hartford, Connecticut, to the late Frederick and Earleen Flagg. As a child, he moved to Southwick, a place he proudly called home for most of his life. If you ever met Fred, you likely heard him before you saw him-he was blessed with the gift of gab, a hearty laugh, and a talent for making everyday moments a little more entertaining. He had a generous spirit, a quick wit, and a way of making people feel like they belonged.

Fred was, above all else, a devoted family man. He was the best dad, brother, uncle, and friend anyone could ask for. He took great pride in his work as a skilled craftsman and quality inspector of FAA parts, a career he dedicated himself to for the majority of his working life. He believed in doing things right the first time-and probably had a story (or three) to tell you about it.

Outside of work, Fred embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved classic rock, motorcycles, and spending time at turkey shoots and skeet shooting as a proud NRA member. He could often be found tending his garden, camping out during salmon runs, or simply enjoying the peace of being outdoors. But his greatest joy-without question-was his family. One of his favorite roles was being pit crew for his son on the motocross circuit, where he combined his mechanical know-how, encouragement, and unmistakable Fred-style commentary.

Fred had a remarkable ability to find joy in the simple things and reminded those around him that happiness didn't have to be complicated. Though he was taken far too soon, the love he shared, the laughter he sparked, and the stories he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Fred is survived by his beloved son, Frederick III, and his partner Brenna, as well as his loving siblings Roland, Troy, and Cindy (Jakuboski), niece & nephews, Amie, RJ, and Troy Jr. He will also be deeply missed by his large extended family and many friends who were lucky enough to be part of his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will be private.

For those wishing to honor Fred's memory, the family respectfully suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Fred would likely say not to be sad for too long-turn up some classic rock, enjoy the moment, and don't forget to laugh.
