Frederick Joseph Gless

Master Chief Gless (Fred) was a great mentor and a wonderful person. I first met Chief when it was Station Short Beach. I know I´m showing my age. Chief always walked around with a smile and would always make sure you were working on your advancement as well as your qualifications. He made training fun. He will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace my friend. "Sempre Paratus"

Master Chief Gless was a mentor not only to me but most everyone who crossed his path. I would not have succeeded if it was not for his guidance and support at my time at Jones Beach Coast Guard. He will be missed. God bless my friend until we meet again.

Master Chief Fred Gless. You lived a life of service, Fire Fighter , Coastguardsman, and bay Constable. You touched so many. Master Chief, you were an incredible leader and mentor.
Not only did you talk me out of separating from the Coast Guard during a difficult time, but you encouraged me to study and advance through the ranks, leading to a successful career. For that I owe you a great debt of gratitude.

Master Chief Gless (Fred) was an incredible mentor to me and all of my shipmates stationed at Coast Guard Search & Rescue Station Jones Beach. He guided us through challenging times with unwavering encouragement and always pushed us to be our best, both as Coast Guardsmen and as individuals.

I will forever feel indebted to Master Chief Gless, as his leadership and support were instrumental in shaping my Coast Guard career into the successful and fulfilling journey it became. His influence on my life and the lives of so many others is a testament to the extraordinary person he was.

He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of strength, kindness, and dedication will live on in all of us who had the honor to serve under him. Rest in peace, Master Chief. Semper Paratus.

Chief was a great boss at the Coast Guard station we both worked back in the 1990´s. He was even a greater man.
