Allan and his brother, Bob, have been friends since we all lived in Pine Gardens in Savannah, in the 1940s. we all went to SHS, played baseball in the field in Tattnall Homes ( where SHS is now) and have kept in touch over the years. Allen played football his senior year at SHS and later in junior college. On the first day of practice he would skin the bridge of his nose as they didn't have nose guards back then.
Both brothers would tell about the "Big Four" basketball in North Carolina, which was hard to believe until I moved to NC.
Allan was as fine a friend as anyone could ever have. The world is a better place for having him here. I would always visit with him when I went to Savannah, and I grieve that he no longer will be there. I am certain I will see him in Heaven.
