There wasn't a person who showed such care. He was Rick Ledbetter, my panel chair.

I was in Mrs Emerson's American Government class at West High in 1968. Fritz sat behind me. I recall that he was a very polite and respectful young man, very ambitious, and that his ambition was to attend an Ivy League School, which he did. I am a little surprised(and shocked), that he didn't stay in Anchorage & become a pillar of the community, and live well into his 90's. So sorry to hear of his passing.

I'm very sad to get the news on Fritz. We grew up in the same neighborhood in Anchorage. I got to know Fritz much better after high school and did some traveling with him. Always a guy who would make a BORING party much more fun!!

I remember Fritz from high school as genuine, personable and as a good friend. Though we lost touch with each other as we moved on, he clearly never lost touch with those admirable qualities. Heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

I met Rick at the Bexar County Appraisal Review Board five years ago but got to serve on his panel only once. He knew I was a writer and was interested in projects I was working on. He was very supportive, too, and a couple of times gave me books as a present, saying "I was thinking about you." We had been talking about the research I was doing on the Apache leader Geronimo, and he got me books with a Western theme. He was a good listener, too, plus a very kind and generous man. I remember one time I told him I was a little nervous at being a panel chair for the first time, and he was very encouraging, telling me that I had nothing to worry about because he believed I had what it took to be a good chairman. This was to be his last year on the board as it is mine. My condolences to his loved ones.

It is most sweet to know that Fritz lived his adult life as he did as a kid. I will always remember how humble and kind he was in school. West Anchorage High was a better place because of him. He was as genuine as they come. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family and loved ones. A light went out with his passing. God speed Fritz.❤

I already knew I would miss Rick. He was my panel chair all summer and this was to be his last year.
Rick brought a legal eye to the proceedings. He was level headed and always fair. I loved his sense of humor.
I always thought I would see him at a concert or something, since our taste in music was similar. But summer is over now. I will miss him.

Rick was a remarkable man with a wonderful family. My condolences to Mary Lou, Norman & Catherine; Priscilla & Charles; Andrew & Julie; Brooke & Luke and Georgia. 'Fritz' was an equally remarkable friend from our school years - we enjoyed playing music, singing, and our time together as members of our debate team. His humor and good nature were among his many gifts to the rest of us. There are people in each of our lives who, at different turns, leave an indelible mark. He was one of the very best. Though we'd not seen each other for a long time, I considered him a life-long friend; and, I will not be surprised when we meet along up the trail.
