Frederick M. Lombardi passed away peacefully at home on December 13, 2024 at the age of 87.

Fred was born in Akron, Ohio on April 1, 1937 to Judge L.A. "Tony" and Dorothy Lombardi. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret "Peggy" his high school sweetheart, whom he married on March 31, 1962. He is also survived by his sons, David (Robin), Marcus (Laurie), John (Eliza), and Joseph (Angela) and grandchildren Leo, Max, Nathan, Olivia (Mika) Cottom, Cecilia (Ethan) Straub, Peter, Benjamin, Nicholas, Maggie, Cate, and Ellie. Also survived by great-grandson Rowan Cottom, brother Richard (Rosemary) Lombardi of Monroe Falls and sister Carol Ann Lombardi, of Gahanna Ohio and her son Bobby.

Fred graduated from St. Vincent High School in 1955, where he met the love of his life Peggy. Fred graduated from the University of Akron in 1960 with a Senior in Absentia, and began his studies at Case Western Reserve Law School early, during his senior year at Akron University. Fred excelled as a law student, serving on the Board of Editors for the Case Western Reserve Law Review, and he was elected president of his class. Fred graduated from Case Western in 1962.

Fred joined the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs in 1962 where he established himself as a prominent corporate advisor and litigator. Fred trained many of the young attorneys at Buckingham during his 50 plus years with the firm. He retired from Buckingham in 2018.

Fred had many professional and philanthropic activities and awards including: Case Western Reserve University Society of the Benchers; President, Trustee and Board member St. Hilary Parish Foundation; Trustee, Executive committee, and Vice President of the Ohio Ballet; Trustee, Walsh Jesuit High School; Lifetime Trustee Akron Golf Charities, NEC World Series of Golf; past president of the Akron Bar Association; named Best Lawyers in America; listed in Who's Who in America; and many others. Fred was a board member Summa Health Systems Foundation, and is a member of the Portage Country Club.

Fred very actively enjoyed life. Whether he was fishing Lake Erie on the Our Girl, or hunting in Maryland, West Virginia or Wyoming, Fred was always up for an adventure with friends and family. These outings always had a common ending: a good cigar, a cocktail, a fire, and good conversation followed by a delicious meal prepared by his loving talented wife, Peggy. Fred was also a golfer, a marksman, and started alpine skiing at age 40 yrs, and riding motorcycles at age 60 yrs. Over the years, Fred and Peggy traveled throughout the Caribbean, the British Isles, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and Utah, and northern California. Fred loved his faith, family, friends and the practice of law.

The family is immensely grateful to his caregivers, Khristina, Chris, Jenny, Patti, Stephanie, Jackie and the Crossroads Team.
