I was lucky enough to know Fred for 42 years and shall value the memories I have of him. He was admired for his intelligence, integrity, insight, leadership, erudite style, business acumen and quick wit. He would make time to share stories of childhood baseball, KU basketball, terrible summer jobs and stock market folklore. I shall mostly remember Fred as a proud father, loyal American and great friend. A life well lived!

Please accept my condolences; we all are so sad to hear of Fred's passing. He was a good friend, a sailor who we didn't mind being passed by in our days of sailboat racing and enjoyed spending time with him after the races. We wish we'd had more of those after-race visits with him in recent years .
