Mr. Martin was my hockey coach from 5 years old all the way to 12. He taught me so much more than the game of hockey. He taught me about loyalty, love of the game, and the importance of team work. He is an inspiring man, even now at the age of 28 I still find myself drifting back to those earlier years wondering how Mr. Martin is doing. You were always in my memories now you will forever be in our hearts. God bless, my heart goes out to the family.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I never called him anything other than "dad", probably from the first time I met him. I am so grateful that I knew Fred Martin. He was tough, but loved his family and even those of us who weren't officially family. I always looked for his handwriting on Christmas cards every year. Love to all of you

My uncle, Freddy was the one who inspired me to go into the Army, because of him I spent 21 years in the Army. I can remember when he was station in Germany and would come home on leave, he would always bring me C-rations to try. I will miss him greatly, but I know he is in a better place now and will no longer suffer. I want to say growing up he was like a dad to me. Love you Freddy, will miss you.

My condolences to the Martin family.. he made so many good times and unforgettable memories possible through his coaching. I played floor hockey for him as a "Hammer"... that was the start of me realizing my potential as an athlete. Having had many adventures since then, and lived around the world... playing hockey on his team is something that remains a main highlight of my life to this day. Thanks so much for giving to the next generation Mr. Martin! You made the world a better place You won't be forgotten. Prayers for the family who are saying goodbye. Wish I could be there... may the peace of the Lord comfort all, Jade Heggli (Pleshe)

Grandpa, I miss you so much already. I am so happy that I could be close to you and by your side until the very end.

e have so many memories to look back at fondly. I'll always remember sitting in your prized garden with you, amongst the flowers, watching bees and butterflies. We would spend what felt like hours looking for four leaf clovers in your backyard. Trips to Dinosaur Forest or the Dairy Farm, feeding the ducks at the Bird Sanctuary. Being captivated by your war stories from Germany or baseball or how you once looked a bear straight in the eye as you picked blueberries. I will remember how every night when we drove away from your house, you would come out onto the porch and wave goodbye until we were out of sight.

Most of all, I will remember how proud you always were, and are, of me, and I hope I can continue to make you proud. I love you and I miss you.

My youngest daughter Karrin was coached in floor hockey for this wonderful man. He not only instilled the rules of play, but how to be a good person to all. His love of sports and young people spilled over to my older daughter, Amanda. She helped coach with him. The life values Fred instilled in my two daughters has reminded with them. And has been passed on to our grandchildren. I have no doubt in my mind that my story is no different than hundreds, if not thousands of other families that have had the privilege to be "Coached" in life by a great man. Our family has been blessed to know Fred Martin. God Bless your family and friends.

My condolences to the Martin family. I had the pleasure of playing baseball for Mr Martin back in the 80's. He made a young man from Pennfield welcome on his ball club. Fare Thee Well Mr Martin - God Speed
