Frederick Miller
August 26, 1945 - November 7, 2025
Frederick Dale Miller, age 80, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, November 7, 2025.
Known for his gentle heart, kind spirit, and soft-spoken nature, Fred was the type of person about whom no one could say a bad word. His sweetness and thoughtfulness touched everyone who knew him, and his love for his family was the center of his world.
Fred was born on August 26, 1945, and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Howard and Irma Miller. He attended St. Patrick's and graduated from Regis High School. After studying political science and serving in the National Guard, Fred built a life rooted in hard work, devotion, and quiet joy. He worked at Uniroyal for 25 years and later for Chippewa County for 18 years.
Fred met the love of his life, Cindy Rubenzer, and the two were married on November 29, 1969. They shared 54 wonderful years together, a partnership full of laughter, loyalty, and tenderness. Fred was an endlessly doting husband, and their love was a model of commitment and care.
He was happiest when surrounded by family, especially during the holidays with no time more cherished than Christmas. Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, trips to Turtle Lake Casino with his brother Joe, and cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers. Though he appreciated the simple pleasures of life, his greatest joy always came from his family, who affectionately knew him as "Papa Fred."
Fred is survived by his daughters, Lisa Johnson and Jolene Dickerson; grandchildren: Cody (Carrie) Holliday, Justin Miller, Blake (Alyssa) Sorenson, Kaylee and Kirsten Johnson, Morgan and Braden Dickerson; and great-grandchildren: Nellie and Howie Holliday, Camden Miller, and Vincen, Autumn, and Easton Sorenson; sister Jeanne Novacek; brothers Jerome and Dave Miller. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cindy Rubenzer-Miller; his son, Mark Miller; his parents, Howard and Irma Miller; and siblings: Jim, John, Joe, and Jeff Miller, Judy Norley, and Joyce Price.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to St. Croix Hospice for their compassion and care.
Fred's legacy of kindness, humility, and love will live on in all who were blessed to know him.
