Frederick Aloysius Moritz
January 22, 1933 – November 22, 2025
Of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning November 22, 2025 in the comfort and care of Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford. He was 92 years old.
Born on January 22, 1933, in Richmond, Virginia, he was the son of the late Roland Moritz and Ila (Puryear) Moritz. Fred was raised in Virginia and moved to Massachusetts while serving in the United States Air Force, first residing in Cambridge before settling in Waltham, where he made his home and raised his family with his lovely wife, Anne.
A graduate of Marshall High School in Virginia, Fred enlisted in the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation and was stationed at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford. After proudly serving his country, he built a long and successful career as an Electrical Technician, working with Honeywell, Raytheon, Jarrell-Ash, and Nova Biomedical in Waltham.
Family was always at the heart of Fred's life, and he treasured every moment spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a deep love for tennis and for dancing-whether square dancing or line dancing with his beloved wife or kicking up his heels on the dance floor at weddings and parties. Ever the comedian and a kid at heart, he delighted in making others laugh with his antics, jokes, and funny faces.
Fred is lovingly remembered by the love of his life and wife of 70 years, Anne L. (Morrison) Moritz; his loving children Karen (Moritz) Brennen and her husband Patrick of Waltham, David Moritz and his wife Doreen of Waltham, and John Moritz and his wife Kathleen Egan of Quincy; his cherished grandchildren Kristen Moritz, Joseph "Joey" Moritz, Amanda (Brennen) Tocci, Ryan Brennen, Colleen Moritz, John Sabatino and Michael Sabatino; and his adoring great-grandchildren Olivia, Owen, Eleni, Nico and Tommy. He is also survived by his dear brother DeWayne Moritz of Virginia and Robin Moritz of Eastham.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Ila, and his sister, Joyce Wooten.
Family & Friends are welcome to gather to celebrate Fred's Life to remember the love & friendship he shared with so many others in his lifetime during Visiting Hours at the Brasco & Sons Memorial Funeral Home, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on Sunday December 7th from 1pm until 3pm.
