Frederick Alan Orend

Frederick Alan Orend, 81, of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in Cumberland Point Nursing Center. He was born on April 7, 1943, in Martins Ferry, a son of the late John and Margaret (Commenelli) Orend. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was first employed by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, later he worked for Gould, then Clevite and finally Capitol Manufacturing which were all located in Lansing. Fred was a member of the Martins Ferry Eagles, and AARP. He enjoyed spending time at the Wheeling Island Racetrack, golf, and spending time with his family, friends but most of all his grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his wife 58 years, Euthalia (Scavdis) Orend; three children, Kathryn (Jay) Dillon, Frederick (Elizabeth) Orend and Marie (Kevin) Woodford; a sister, Joann Chlon; a brother, John (Martha) Orend; seven grandchildren, Brandon and Dominic Orend, Lauren, Angelina, Kevin Jr., and Lilliana Woodford and Haley Dunkle; and two great grandchildren, Elijah and Elliana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Alexander Orend; and two brothers, Earl, and George Orend.
Friends may call Friday, November 15, 2024, from 11 am to 1pm in the Wilson Funeral Home, Heslop Chapel, 415 Walnut St, Martins Ferry. Funeral service will be held at 1 pm in the funeral home with Reverend Nancy Destefano officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.
