Frederick Peatross

PEATROSS, Frederick W. "Freddie," 76, of Ruther Glen, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born in Caroline, he was a graduate of the University of Richmond. After graduation, he went to work at the Caroline Progress and later opened Peatross Offset Printing. He was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where he had served in several positions. He was a charter member and past president of the Reedy Church Ruritan Club and served as treasurer for many years. He also served as Chesapeake District Lieutenant Governor and Governor. Survivors include his wife, Bernice P. Peatross; three sons, D. Wayne Ball and his wife, Sue, Donald L. Ball and his wife, Jeannie, and Roger B. Ball and his wife, Beth; a brother, Donald Peatross and his wife, Ann; two sisters, Julia Waller and her husband, Mervin, and Ann Hardy; seven grandchildren, Joey Reid and his wife, Michelle, Garrick Ball and his wife, Shanda, Mandy Ball-Domenceh and her husband, Irving, Rachel Jacobus and her husband, Jason, Kathryn Ball and Matthew Stuckey, Colleen Cassada and her husband, Paul, and Steward Ball; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green, with Rev. Bill Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the funeral home.
