Frederick Purdy

Purdy, Frederick B. suddenly on June 28, 2011 with his family by his side. Loving husband and best friend of Diane E. (nee Jenkins). Survived by his mother Marion Purdy (and the late Roger) and mother- in- law Ora Jenkins (and the late Earl). Brother of Henry (Carolina) and Caroline. Brother-in-law of Mary (Frank), Rusty (Deanie), David (Patty), and cousin of Dave (Lisa). Devoted uncle to Ian (Leslie), Brian, Brittany (Matt), Nichole, Christopher, Nathan, Sean, Clare and Alexandra. He will be deeply missed by friends and fellow golfers. Fred grew up in Swarthmore and resided in Glenside with Diane. He was the head golf professional at Sandy Run Country Club for over 25 years. He became a member of the PGA in 1985 and received Quarter Century Member honors on May 1, 2010. In addition to his love for golf Fred was also an avid music lover. Fred will be remembered most for his gifts of making everyone feel they were exceptional and respected. Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation at the William R. May Funeral Home, 354 N.
