Frederick Harvey Six, affectionately known as Fred, passed away on November 16, 2024, in Biloxi, MS, at the age of 76. Born January 12, 1948, in Shelby, North Carolina, he was the beloved son of the late Raymond Six and Betty Rogers Six. Fred lived a life of dedication, love and service.
Fred was married for over 55 years to his loving wife, Josephine Nora Six, who was not only his partner but his best friend. He is survived by his sons, Michael and Stephen (Jennifer) Six and grandchildren, Christian, Brianna, Eleanna and Luke.
Fred proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War. He was a squad leader with Company H, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V, Combat Action Ribbon and Rifle Sharpshooter Qualification Badge. After his military service, he took pride in everything he did including his marriage for over 55 years, working at Raytheon (US Defense Contractor), raising two successful sons, coaching local young teams, dabbling in the stock market, and so much more.
Upon retiring from Raytheon, he moved to Maggie Valley, North Carolina and then moved to Biloxi, MS where he volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and enjoyed playing weekly card games with his friends. He also loved to travel with his beloved wife where they successfully visited all 50 states. As an avid learner, especially in finance, Fred enjoyed sharing his knowledge with friends and family.
A celebration gathering will be held from 1pm – 3pm on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church, with visitation beginning one hour prior. An interment ceremony will follow Mass at Biloxi National Cemetery.
