Frederick Allen Winstead, a cherished member of his family and community, was born on January 13, 1946, in Meridian, Mississippi. He departed this life on February 7, 2025, at his residence, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
Frederick proudly served as a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Naval Reserve, exemplifying a steadfast commitment to his country. After his military service, he enjoyed a fruitful career at Dupont Company, where he was known for his work ethic and camaraderie with colleagues.
Beyond his professional life, Frederick had a passion for the outdoors that was evident in the hobbies he cherished. He loved hunting, fishing, archery, boating, and riding motorcycles, which brought him great joy and countless memories with family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Shane Allen Winstead and his wife, Jennifer Winstead; his daughter, Julie Eck Morris; his siblings, Jeanette Mullinax, Helen Juneau (Robert), David Winstead (Ann), Clair Kovac (Drag), and James Winstead; his grandson, Zackary Allen Winstead; his aunt, Beth Howington; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends. Frederick's family was his pride and joy, and he took immense pride in supporting and nurturing their dreams.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Sue Winstead, who passed away in 2015; his father, Bert William Winstead; and his mother, Masie Ila Moore Winstead. His passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who loved him.
Frederick's contributions and impact were further acknowledged through heartfelt gratitude to Deaconess Hospice staff, as well as to all his family and friends for their support and love during both difficult times and joyous moments.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Riemann Family Funeral Home - Gulfport, located at 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport, MS 39503. A funeral service will follow on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM, also at the same location. Following the service, a graveside service will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
Frederick Allen Winstead's life was a testament to the values he treasured, and he will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the unwavering love he provided to his family and friends. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
