Frederick Wright (Tommy) passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2024, surrounded by his family and friends. Tommy fought a long and hard battle of cancer. Even through all the pain, he always wanted to make people smile and laugh. His love for life never wavered during his battle with cancer. He was born on June 16, 1947, to Fred and Norma Wright.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Reed; daughters, Stacy Marie Wright-Sherwood (Dale) Bremen, OH, Teresa Wright-Hickmon (Jason Hackney) Palmetto, FL, and son, Thomas Wright (Tammy) Lancaster, OH. Eight grandchildren, Richard Sherwood (Sanita Wilhelm) Lancaster, OH, Shaina Billiter Lancaster, OH, Austin Sherwood (Elizabeth Hopkins) Lancaster, OH, Justin Wright Lancaster, OH, Kaylee Wright Lancaster OH, Christopher Hickmon (Leslie Burch) Lake City, FL, Emily Hickmon Tampa, FL, and Samantha Hackney (Samuel Freeman) Bradenton, FL. Four great-grandchildren, Alexia, Lilian, Olivia, and Harvey. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Anne Estep (Joe) Newark, OH, Betty Jo Bennett (George) Pleasantville, OH, Danny Wright (Debbie) Lancaster, OH, David Wright (Janet) Lancaster, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Norma Wright and brother, Terry Wright.
He was a mold maker by trade and spent his first 20 years working at Anchor Hocking Plant 2 in Lancaster, OH until their closing in 1985, and then retired from Tropicana in Bradenton, FL, in 2016.
Tommy had a passion for working on cars, fishing and going to concerts with Pink Floyd being his most favorable. He never met a stranger and he enjoyed helping others.
At Tommy's request, no Funeral Service will be held. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West, Bradenton, FL 34209, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the National Cancer Society https://donate.cancer.org/.

Clutch was a good childhood friend from South School and the Southside neighborhood. I knew him as Tommy and then Clutch after high school.
Talked on the phone year ago and didn't say anything about cancer. Just about hurricane .
He was a great mechanic and we worked at Anchor Hocking plant 2 after I got home from serving in Vietnam.
I left Anchor Hocking and he became an apprentice in the mold shop.
He loved racing and working on his nova in his garage in the alley on East Wheeling Street.
I worked at Rockwell International in Columbus and rode to work with his dad Fred Sr.

There is so much I could write about Tommy, in short he was an amazing and honorable man. A man that I was fortunate to call my Dad. I will miss him deeply, but I am thankful he is at peace. He now lives within the hearts he had touched throughout his journey in life.

It was an honor having you as my Dad. You taught me so much, work hard, don't judge, help others, and so much more. You were loved and adored by so many. You will certainly be missed!!
