Death Notice

Fredrick Arthur “Freelow”

1965 - 2025

Sunrise for Fredrick Bell was January 11, 1965, in Waco, Texas to Brenda Ann Bell and Arthur Chatman. Fredrick was a loving son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Fredrick attended schools in the Waco Independent School District and was a proud graduate of the Richfield High School Class of 1983. During high school, he ran track and was a dynamic member of Richfield's track team.

Fredrick, also known as Freelow, loved food and was a splendid cook. The story behind the nickname, most of us never knew. The original nickname given was Freeloader. This name was given to him because as a toddler he would finish his food, then go around and get everyone else's food. This was the name of a character on the Red Skeleton's Show and over the years the name was shortened to Freelow. Because of this love for food Throughout his career, he established the excellent talent of cooking. Freelow held many jobs in the food service business as a cook. He worked at establishments such as Hillcrest Hospital, Harold Waite's Pancake House and Churches Chicken just to name a few. Before his passing he worked at the City of Waco Landfill. He was proud of his position and would talk about it frequently.

In early 2016, he met the love of his life Darlene and on 9/19/2016 they were joined in holy matrimony. Fredrick was honored by this union and would start most sentences with "My wife said" or "me and my wife." Fredrick loved Darlene and Darlene loved her some Fredrick aka "Honey". They shared an unbreakable bond that most of us strive to have. The only thing that divided them was Football. Fredrick loved the Houston Texans and Darlene loved the Kansas City Chiefs.

Freelow loved his family, and he loved to make people laugh. He was always the life of the party and never met a stranger. His infectious spirit and constant good humor made him easy to love. No matter how hard life hit Freelow, he remained positive and always had a kind heart. He would always have names for people IYKYK, (lol). If someone needed help, if it was in his power, he was going to help them. Even if he did not feel well (although you would never know it). His family and friends could always count on him.

Fredrick was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda Ann Bell, his father Arthur Chatman and his maternal grandparents and great grandparents.
