Fredricka Emilie Torpen

Fredricka Emilie Torpen, 79, of Strum, Wisconsin, passed away at her home on October 11, 2025.
Fredricka was born to Clarence and Ruth (Skumlin) Haugen on November 8, 1945, in Whitehall, Wisconsin, where she grew up with her seven siblings: Merton, Hans, Jimmy, Roger, Lorraine, Elvira, and Judy.
After graduating from Whitehall High School, Fredricka worked a variety of jobs before starting at the Norske Nook as a waitress, then as a hostess, and eventually as a manager, until she retired after over 30 years.
Fredricka married her husband, Kenneth Torpen, on October 21, 1973, and together the two raised three children, Jack, Jimmy, and Jenny.
Family was everything to Fredricka, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family fondly remembers Christmases where they could hardly gather around the tree at grandma's because of all the gifts she had thoughtfully picked out for them. When not with her family, she could be found visiting with friends, often over a cup of coffee.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Torpen, her son Jack (Angie), and daughter Jenny. She is further survived by her grandsons Josh (Sara) and Trevor (Alyssa), and great-grandchildren Ian, Graham, Emmitt, and Via, brothers Merton (Sharon) and Hans, sisters-in-law Karen, Ruth (Earl), Leona, and Annie (Donny), brother-in-law Dennis, friend Rosie Paulson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth, siblings Jimmy (Donna), Roger, Lorraine (Paul), Elvira (Eldrid), and Judy, her son, Jimmy, and great-grandson Elijah. She is also preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law, Oscar and Miram, and brothers-in-law Sonny and Ricky.
Services will be held at the Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, October 16, 2025. Visitation to take place from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Those in attendance are welcome to join the family afterwards for a meal in the fellowship hall. Pastor Dave Hoadley to officiate.
