Freeman F. Housel

Canandaigua – Freeman F. Housel, age 74, passed away after a short illness, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, while surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jennifer (Brahm) Housel; two children, Stephanie Bode (Chris Hershey) and Brent (Rachel) Housel; five grandchildren, Brendan, Alyssa, Christopher, Sammie and Briana, who loved their 'Gampie' so much; five siblings, John (Kathy) Housel, Linda (Bert) Dailey, Dawn (Brian) Brown, Karl Housel and Orrin Housel; sister-in-law, Nonie Wyffels (Rick Curtis); brothers-in-law, Skip (Debbie) Brahm and Butch (Lisa) Brahm; aunt and uncle, Sandy and Fran Simmons; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Paula Wright and Jody Devlin; brother-in-law, Pat Devlin; sister-in-law, Yvonne Brahm.

Freeman was born in Canandaigua and was the son of John and Shirley (Baker) Housel. He attended Canandaigua Schools and was a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, class of 1970. Freeman worked at Mobil Chemical/Pactiv in Canandaigua for 43 years, retiring in 2013.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the woods, trips to Las Vegas and casinos, wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida and going for long rides with Jen. Most of all, Freeman loved spending time with his family, who he loved more than anything. He was an avid Buffalo Bills and NY Yankees fan (most of the time).

Friends may call, Friday, September 19, from 3-6pm, at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua at a later date.
