Freeman "Howie" Howard Jr.

Freeman (Howie) Howard Jr., age 72, of East Bernstadt, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Lisa Howard; four children, Shawn Howard of Manchester, NH, Derek Howard of West End, NC, Shelley Townsend of Concord, NC; Jack Howard & wife Maydaliz of Clarksville, TN; eight grandchildren, Kierstin Bishop, Jeremy Howard, Ian Howard, Gavin Howard, Madison Ochoa, Jillian Townsend, Jorja Townsend, Callen Howard; one great granddaughter, Melody Bishop; plus a host of other family and friends to cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman Howard Sr. & Beverly Rowe Howard; and by four siblings, Jean Roy, Arlene O'Hara, Judy Theberge, Michael Howard.

Freeman was a dedicated public servant and retired police officer who spent his life protecting and serving his community. After his retirement, Freeman embraced a quieter pace of life, finding fulfillment in his many hobbies and interests.

He enjoyed gardening and took pride in working with his hands through woodworking projects. Freeman also had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship and detail, which was reflected in his collection of model trucks and cars. An avid collector, he took interest in firearms and valued the history and precision behind them.

Freeman will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and the simple joys he found in everyday life. His legacy lives on through the memories shared by those who knew and loved him.

No service is scheduled at this time. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
