Freida Kay Coleman, age 64, of Elizabethton, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Sycamore Shoals Hospital in Elizabethton. Freida was born in Georgia to the late Marcus and Mildred Bennett. In addition to her parents, Freida was also preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Donald Whitaker.
Freida was a warm, caring, smart and honest person. Always willing to help out in any way she could, she spent her working career taking care of others. She loved her work at the Dawn of Hope for the six years she was there and at Mayes Brothers, where she worked for over 20 years. Freida had the patience and the calm and relaxed attitude it took to show all of her patients the compassion they needed. In her spare time she enjoyed reading love stories, watching Ghost Hunters, riding through the mountains, fishing and enjoying nature.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memories include her daughter, Vonda (Justin) Hill; her grandchildren, Michael Pilkington, Alyssa Hill and Kaylee Hill; and her special family friend, Crystal Blevins and her family.
A gathering of remembrance in Freida s honor will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Jerry Davis officiating. The family will also receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4:00 PM until the service hour of 5:00 PM.
