Freida Ann Givens

Freida Ann Givens, 88 years old, passed away September 25, 2025, at Dickson Health & Rehab.
She was born August 7, 1937, 6th of 7 children, in Nashville, TN, to the late William Carl and Clara Eugenia (Walker) Jones.
Freida moved to Fairview when she was two, to a house across from Clements Lake. In May 1955, she married Edison Givens, and moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1956. The first two children were born there before moving back to Fairview in 1959. She went back to high school in 1960, attending Watkins High School for her junior year and Fairview High School for her senior year, graduating in 1961. Followed by the birth of her sons in 1962 and 1964 she moved to Dickson in 1965. In 1972 she began LPN training at TCAT, graduating in 1973. She worked a short time at Dickson General Hospital. She worked at Goodlark Hospital and took training in Cardiology and worked in the Cardiac Unit for a time. She worked in the Emergency Department at Goodlark for a few years before transferring to the clinic to work for various doctors offices. She ultimately ended up working in Pediatrics for Dr. Jeff Gordon. During that time she also became a Certified CPR trainer and went to various businesses and factories training people to do CPR. She was with Dr. Gordon's office for 27 years, before retiring in 2007. The grandchildren started arriving beginning in 1990. She was part of her daughter, Teresa's Gospel band, Promise Land, from 1999-2009. She played the Auto Harp in the band. The group played at a different nursing home three Saturdays a month, many churches, and other events.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edison Givens; and siblings, Kenneth Jones, Vivian Hall, Jackie Jones, Ray (Inez) Jones, Elizabeth Lampley Franklin, and James Jones. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Teresa Hadden, Kimberly Houser, Kirk (Patricia) Givens, and Tracy (Paula) Givens; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation and Funeral services will be at Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Visitation will begin on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.; and will resume on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Dickson Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Bro. Chris McCurley will be officiating. Interment will follow in Hudgins Cemetery in Fairview, TN.
