Frieda Lowe, 85, of Springfield, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 2:16 p.m. surrounded by her family at St. John's Hospital. Frieda was born on April 25, 1925 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of James and Rose Deutsch. She married Torrence "Buster" Franklin Lowe, Sr. on September 17, 1949 in St. Louis, MO. He preceded her in death in 2000. She graduated from Gallaudet School for the Deaf. She worked for Horace-Mann Life Insurance Company and retired in 1987 after 20 years of service. Frieda enjoyed dining out with friends, being around others and traveling. She had the great ability to make people laugh and make them happy. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, William Deutsch; and two sisters, Ann Tobin and Regina Baumann. She is survived by her son, Torrence F. Lowe, Jr. of Tuscon, AZ; a daughter, Brenda (husband, Brian) Bruce of Springfield; two grandchildren, Ian (fiancé, Janine Bishop) Bruce of San Jose, CA and Daniel (companion, Stephanie Bogdanich) Bruce of Austin, TX; five nieces and seven nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following the visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road, Springfield, IL 62702.
