G. Elmer McKenna, 74, of Bow, WA, passed away November 18th, at home.
The son of George and Ida McKenna, he was born on December 17th, 1950 on the Knudson family farm in La Conner. They later moved to the west side of Mount Vernon on Dunbar Road. Elmer attended Mount Vernon schools and graduated from Mount Vernon High School with the class of 1969, and later attended Skagit Valley College.
He married Lola Sharpe January 25th, 1974 and had daughter Heather in 1979. Over the years, he worked at his parents' small appliance repair shop and also worked for US Marine in Arlington for a number of years. He had various hobbies and loved tinkering with old cars, go-karts and CB radios.
His wife preceded him in death, in 2005.
Survivors include step-children Kristin and Jim, daughter Heather (Mark), grandchildren Stephen, Kaitlyn, Joshua, Jonathan, Brandon, Jessalyn and Julianne and great-grandchildren River and Azalie. Also, a newly discovered half-brother, Larry Milne of Bellingham, whom he never got to meet.
