It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Gabriel Joseph Labrecque. Gabriel passed away unexpectedly at his home in Bedford, New Hampshire on Saturday, December 19, 2020. He was seventy-seven years old. Born in Magog QC, Canada, the son of the late Clément Labrecque and Marie-Jeanne (Frenière) Labrecque, he came to the United States in 1968 with his wife Lise, and their two children, Alain and Nathalie. Once here, they had their third child, Michel. A hardworking man, Gabriel lived in Manchester, NH, and was employed for forty years at Velcro USA, as a mechanic in both the Research and Development and Weaving departments. Upon retiring, Gabriel moved to Bedford, New Hampshire. Fondly remembered as a passionate storyteller and comedian, Gabriel's grandsons affectionately referred to him as "Gaby Gump." Together, they enjoyed tackling projects with their beloved grandfather. When he wasn't sitting outside his garage whistling at the birds, you could find him building in his woodshop, or cheering for his grandsons as they played hockey. He never missed a game. He is survived by his bride of 54 years, Lise (Métivier) Labrecque, and his children: Alain Labrecque of Hooksett, New Hampshire, Nathalie Labrecque of Concord, New Hampshire, Michel Labrecque and daughter-in-law Sylvia (Bibeau) Labrecque of Bedford, New Hampshire, as well as his grandsons Cameron, Blaine, Connor, and Nicholas. Gabriel believed in a firm handshake and the importance of family. He was happiest with his wife by his side, and his guitar in his hands. He will remain forever in our hearts, and deeply missed by all who knew him. Other family members include his brothers and sisters, the late Armande, late Clémence (late Ubald), late Hélène, late Jean-Guy (Lisette), Huguette (late Ronald), Gisèle (Joe), Robert (Pierrette), Jean-Claude (Carmen), Francine (Mario), Louise (Réjean), Constance (Sylvain), Marlaine (Christian). His brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jean, Claudette, Gilles, late Jeannine, late Micheline, late Guy, late Lucien. As well as many adored nephews and nieces. A service will be held in Quebec, Canada at a later date.
