Gabriel R Ruiz, 40 of Stockton passed away peacefully at home among family and friends on Friday December 21st. Gabriel was a lifelong resident of Stockton and was the youngest of 7 children. Gabriel worked as a Correctional Officer for the state of California for the past 16 years and had a passion for what he did. Gabriel will be remembered as a loving husband, caring father and an amazing friend. Gabriel was an avid sports fan and loved the Green Bay Packers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Gabriel enjoyed camping and especially loved spending time with his family. Gabriel was never at a loss for words and loved to crack jokes and tell stories to make people laugh. Gabriel was always willing to help others and believed in paying it forward. Gabriel is survived by his wife of 20 years, Maria O Ruiz, his son Gabriel Ruiz Jr, daughters Daniela Ruiz, Elena Ruiz and Sarah Ruiz, parents Guadalupe and Aniceto Ruiz, sisters Maria Morales, Sylvia Carroll, Angie Languerand and Lupe Blackburn, brother Rafael Ruiz and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many lifelong friends. Gabriel was preceded in death by his brother Aniceto Ruiz Jr. A viewing will be held on Thursday January 3rd from 11:00 to 3:00 at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St. Stockton, CA 95202, followed by a Rosary/Vigil at 5:00 at St Gertrude's Catholic Church, 1663 E. Main St. Stockton, CA 95205. A Mass will be held at St Gertrude's Catholic Church on Friday January 4th at 10:00am, followed by the burial services held at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery, Highway 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi. Donations may be made in Gabriel's name to Financial Center Credit Union Account # 146624, 206 E. Yosemite Ave Manteca, CA 95336 or to any of the 3 Stockton branches.
