Gail Abramsky Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Louis Suburban Chapel - Fair Lawn on Dec. 9, 2025.
Gail Linda Abramsky passed away on December 9, 2025, after a sudden illness. She was 77 years old.

Gail was born in 1948, the first child of her parents Martin and Estelle Kostin, and was raised in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn. At a young age, Gail developed a strong passion for music and started playing the piano at eight years old. She excelled in her studies and skipped the eighth grade. She attended Midwood High School, graduating in 1965 and starting college at just 16 years old. Gail had a love of classical music and continued to play piano and guitar into her older years.

Gail earned a bachelor's degree in education from Brooklyn College in 1969. She was a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. Gail met her husband Stephen during her first year of college. The pair got married days after graduation and were devoted to each other for over 56 years. A few years after the birth of their daughters, Gail and Stephen moved to New Jersey, first to Fort Lee and subsequently to Fair Lawn, where they lived for 41 years. Gail loved dogs, particularly rescue dogs. It was very important to her that each of her dogs - Frosty, Happy, Kelev, Trixie, and Quin - were rescue dogs. Gail's love of dogs lives on through her daughters and grandchildren; Quin, Gail's most recent rescue, has moved to the big city where she now lives with Gail's daughter Staci.

She is survived by her husband Stephen Abramsky; her daughters Leslie Abramsky (Larry) Block and Staci Abramsky (Mark) Risman; her grandchildren Rebecca Block, Jaden Block, and Evan Risman; and her sisters Judie (Stan) Grubman and Lori (Stephen) Rosenberg. She will be laid to rest on Thursday, December 11, at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Glendale, NY.
