HAMILTON – Mrs. Gail Alice (Tipert) Burnham, 83 of Hamilton, beloved wife of the late Peter J. Burnham, died peacefully, Saturday, March 12, 2022 with her family by her side.
Born in Danvers, she was the daughter of the late Gardner and Alice (Mullarkey) Tipert. She grew up on The Tipert Family Farm, raised and educated in Danvers, and was a graduate of the former Holten High School, class of 1956.
Mrs. Burnham was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She dedicated her life to supporting her family in all of their endeavors. She worked at the Wenham Tea House over the years and loved her time spent there.
Gail and Peter spent nearly every possible moment together, side by side at Wenham events ranging from pancake breakfasts to Firemen's Musters. They spent weekends helping out at The Tipert Farm, traveling to their children's sporting events, and weekend trips to New Hampshire, Maine, and Padanaram. "Nana " was a fixture in the stands for years watching her grandchildren play sports, traveling to countless hockey rinks, football fields, basketball courts, and baseball diamonds including a stop in Cooperstown, New York.
A lifelong resident of the Town of Hamilton, she was the "matriarch" of Henderson's Café, enjoying the daily town gossip and laughing along with good friends. She was a member of the First Church in Wenham. Family and friends always came first to Gail and she will be deeply missed for her kind heart and sense of humor.
Gail is survived by her daughter, Susan Sylvia and her husband, Robert of Glastonbury, Ct, her son, Scott Burnham and his wife, Pattie of Gloucester, her grandchildren, Samantha Davidson, Peter Jonathan Burnham II, Robert Burnham, Jack Sylvia and Owen Sylvia, her great grandchildren, Rex, Rocky, Bizzy and Goldie Davidson, her brother, Leonard Tipert of Wenham and several nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral service will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (rte 62) DANVERS, Saturday, March 19 at 1:30 P.M. Relatives and friends invited. My sympathy to Gail's family. I went through Wadsworth elementary school with Gail. My family also had a farm on Rte 114 a couple of miles from Gail's family. We often shared the experiences we had selling the produce to customers. We were in Girl Scouts together, with her mother as our leader. I saw Gail last at a Class of 1956 reunion. I am in Virginia now, and I was so sad to see her face on the page as I looked up another obituary (Leo Curda) whom I also knew well. Gail, may you rest in peace! Joan Hearn McCarthy

I worked with Gail at the Tea House. We shared many laughs. I also got suppers for her sweet mother, Alice. fondly remembering the Burnham and Tipert family

So sorry to hear about Gail. She was a lovely soul and I always enjoyed our conversations when we saw each other. She would help with tending my Dad's stone at the Wenham Cemetery if she noticed we had not been there as her family stone is right next to his. Rest peacefully.
